John Finlay beloved husband of Carol Finlay passed away on Sunday March 27, 2022 at the age of 80. Cherished by daughter Julia & Dan, and by son William “Bill”. Proud grandfather of his 8 grandchildren, Cole, Thomas, Matthieu, Bella, Michael, Jorja, Abigail, and Marc. Dearly remembered by his sisters and brother, Elizabeth (late Harold), Mary (late John), Jane (late Ken), Jim & Anne, and the late Margaret (Neil), also missed by in laws, Brian & Elaine, Mary (late Keith), Don & Berndina, the late Chris (Carol), and the late Cathy (Ivan). Uncle of many nieces and nephews.
John was born and raised on the family farm located on North Boundary of Hay Township. John and Carol were married in the United Church and continued to attend. After a barn fire he relocated to a farm outside of Clinton where he continued to farm, work with cattle and other animals. John spent many days trucking cattle to and from the salebarns in Denfield, Waterloo, and Talbotville. He began his auctioneering career in the 1980s selling farm equipment and household contents for people in the community. He continued farming throughout his retirement years on a farm near the Auburn area spending many hours working with his tractor on the land and doing chores.
He worked doing what he enjoyed every day with the support of family, neighbors and friends right until March of 2022.
We are very grateful for the communities that John was a part of throughout his entire life.
We treasure the memories we have of his life on the farm and times we spent together.
At John’s request cremation has taken place. Private interment of ashes to take place at a later date. A very special thank you to Dr Armstrong and all of the nurses and doctors at the Clinton public hospital for their treatment and support of John over the last week. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations to the Clinton Public Hospital Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Falconer Funeral Homes – Clinton. Messages of Condolence for the Finlay Family are welcome at www.falconerfuneralhomes.com
