Obituary for Sheila Ridgway

RIDGWAY: Sheila (nee Blottner)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sheila Isabel Ridgway after her brief battle with cancer. In her eightieth year, she passed away peacefully at 4:30am, Sunday March 19th. She leaves behind her loving husband Ted, much-loved sister Beverley (Mark), sons Christopher (Anna Maria) and Cameron (Anne), niece Michelle(Marshall), and four grandchildren, James, Isabella, Adelaide, and Phoebe.

Sheila had a fulfilling life, rich with variety and travel. She valued people and had many old and enduring friendships. As a meticulous organizer and communicator, her early career included IBM, the Canada Centre for Inland Waters, and the University of British Columbia. As an avid reader, and not coincidentally, she worked at Chapters in her later years. Sheila lived in Hamilton ON, Australia, Vancouver BC, and ultimately retired to Goderich ON. In Goderich she continued to develop friendships and spent much of her time volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul. On suitable mornings, when the Lake Huron weather permitted, it would not be unusual to find Sheila and Ted taking their morning coffee at the local beach. Sheila was much-loved by her family and will be missed.

Thanks to the staff and caregivers at Alexandra Marine & General Hospital in Goderich, and to both Doctors Spacek. Special thanks to the nurses and volunteers at Huron Hospice in Clinton.

Cremation has taken place. A private memorial service will be held.

In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to Huron Hospice, Clinton or St. Vincent de Paul Society, Goderich.

Arrangements entrusted to Falconer Funeral Homes - Bluewater Chapel, Goderich.
