Obituary for Shawn Slotegraaf

SLOTEGRAAF: SHAWN

February 20, 1980 to December 24, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shawn Slotegraaf on Friday, December 24, 2021 at the age of 41 at his home in Vanastra. Loving son of Henry & Ann Slotegraaf. Beloved brother of Lisa (Ronnie) Suzor, Nancy Field, Patricia (Ken) Goodburn, and Steven Slotegraaf. Loving Uncle of Sheena (Mike), Tera (David), Seleena, Eli, Olivia, Noah, Kelsey and Amber.

Many knew Shawn only through the lens of the addictions he battled for years. That wasn’t the only part of Shawn though, and those fortunate enough to truly know him can remember him as one who would give the clothes he was wearing to help someone in need ; a person who readily told those he cared for that he loved them. He was a loyal son, brother and friend. A very loving and involved uncle.

Shawn loved the outdoors, in particular the bush on the family farm. He loved dogs and horses. He loved his nieces and nephews the most of anything. For them he always had time to play a game, go four wheeling, or spend time together. He loved to watch his niece and nephews play sports. Shawn always liked to go fast, had very little fear (heights or speed) and loved to draw and fabricate. He always had a ready smile on his face and was up for any adventure. He loved loud music and fires (any and all fires). One of his many nicknames was Blaze.

We will be celebrating that Shawn was a part of our life by having a memorial service at Clinton Christian Reformed Church on Saturday, January 8, 2021. Open visitation is from 10 to 11 am with a service to follow. All COVID protocols will need to be followed (masks, sign in and 2m distancing). Cremation has already taken place.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Falconer Funeral Homes - Clinton.
