Obituary for Patricia Van Patter

VAN PATTER: Patricia

Patricia Ann Van Patter’s bright light went from earth to heaven on the morning of Tuesday, April 4, 2023.
She was 91 years of age. Pat is survived by her loving daughter, Melanie Gibson and her grandchildren, Mikhala Gibson and Lukas Gibson, her loving niece Krystyna Higgins, her husband Michael and their children Rebecca, Andrew, Sarah and Alexa, her loving big brother Mervyn Kingsbury and his wife Jean, and their sons, Tim (Betsy) and Steve. Her dear friends Ruth and Garth Mc Clinchey and their clan were also family to her. She had much love in her heart for Melanie’s brothers Neal (Nancy) and Mark (Juliana) and their children Amanda Pfeiffer (Jacob) and Jeniffer Milburn (Dylan). She is predeceased by her dear sister Frances Peterson.

Also known as “Highway Grandma,” she lived in her beloved town of Goderich until 2016 when she went to live at Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home where she was cared for by the incredibly kind and capable staff.
Pat lived to love her Lord and saviour Jesus Christ and her community. She spread love, laughter, butter tarts and apple pie wherever she went. At Bethel Pentecostal Church, her favourite spot was serving in the church kitchen at any church family gathering. God used her gift of hospitality and her quick British wit, to bless and bring joy to many. She had little material wealth in this life but she gave generously as though she had everything. And now she does indeed have everything and more. She is in your forever home with Christ and will receive her reward. Put the kettle on for us to have a cuppa tea soon Mum. Goodbye until we see your beautiful smile again.

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. (Psalm 116:15)
For me to live is Christ and to die is gain. (Phil. 1:21)
I thank God every time I remember you. (Phil 1:3)

A Celebration of Life for Pat will be held at Bethel Pentecostal Assembly, 321 Bayfield Road, Goderich (Hwy 21 and Suncoast Drive) on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior to service time. Interment, Maitland Cemetery, Goderich.
