Obituary for June Howse

Obituary – June Howse – June 7, 2021

It is with sadness but deep gratitude for her 89 years of life that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved ‘Mom the Queen’ in the wee hours of June 7, 2021. We are confident that she has already joined the heavenly choir and found her good friend Ruth Pickard to take on Dad and John in a now eternal game of euchre!

Mom has left wonderful memories with her children Becky Howse, Digby (Ginette) Howse, Juel (Malcolm) Howse-McLean, and Melodie (John) VanderWal.

Grandma June, Gran or Granny, as she was variously called by her much-loved grandchildren Chantale (Jermaine) Legall, Daniel (LaToya) Howse, Jessica (Jason) Wise, Allison (Matt) Elligson, Lauren (Scott Pletch) VanderWal and Cameron McLean will always be remembered for her fun-loving zest for life.

Adored great-grandchildren Dominic, Carter and Jordyn Legall; Judah, Micah and Hannah Howse; Avery and Ben Wise; Silas, Jaela and Kylin Elligson; and Rowan Pletch have loved seeing themselves in photos with ‘GG’.

Pre-deceased by her 6 Kent siblings, husband Doug (2010), and son-in-law John (2020), June was ready to be with them all again by the time of her passing. She had wanted to ‘get to Huronview’ while still able to participate in all the programs and she didn’t miss a beat. Whatever was going on, June Howse had her hand up first to take part. Huronview staff are to be blessed and thanked for their tender, loving care of our mom/grandmother over the past 2 years!

Cremation has already taken place. The ashes will be interred beside Doug’s at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in late June. In keeping with June’s wishes and COVID protocols, a family-only private memorial will be conducted by Pastor Ginette Howse.

June Howse is remembered fondly by many more relatives and friends across Ontario, in Quebec and the United States.
