Obituary for Anne Colclough

Lois Anne Colclough, nee Atkinson, R.R.#3 Clinton, Ontario, 1946 – 2022.
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Anne on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at the age of 76.
Anne was born to Charles Atkinson and Thelma Atkinson (nee Wood) on July 14, 1946 in Almonte, Ontario. When she was a little girl, upon asking her father on the night before her birthday what day tomorrow was, he (knowing full well what she meant) replied: “Of course; it’s Bastille Day.” This became a lifelong family joke. Also, a handy mnemonic to ensure no one forgot her birthday!
Upon graduating with Honours (and the highest grade average) from Trenton High School in 1965, Anne attended Peterborough Teachers College. Following that graduation in 1967, she began teaching at Holmesville Public School, just outside Clinton, Ontario. She always said she enjoyed teaching Grade 2 the most, as at that point the children were the perfect balance of being cute, innocent and precocious.
While teaching at the school, Anne met Ivan Colclough. They married on March 15, 1969, in Trenton, and took up residence on Ivan’s Clinton (Holmesville) farm.
Following Ivan’s death in 2013, Anne’s son, Mike and his wife Leanne operated and expanded the farm operation from the house he had built nearby.
Anne is survived by her son, Michael (Mike), his wife Leanne, and three grandchildren, Morgan, Tyler, and Emily; her step-children, Joyce Cuttell and her husband Fred, and Kathy Hunking and her husband Murray; and her brother Robert (Bob) and family.
Donations in memory may be made, should you wish, to Huron Hospice: www.huronhospice.ca/donate
Inurnment will be in Clinton Cemetery. In accordance with Anne’s wishes, there will be no formal service.
She leaves this world a better place for having been in it. Rest in Peace, Anne.
