Harold (Hoot) William Gibbings passed away peacefully on Tuesday Feb 08, 2022 at the age of 88. Loving father of Larry Gibbings & Sue Riley, Lynne Gibbings Davies & Randy Rier, Steve & Julie Gibbings, and Wendy & Les Coleman. Predeceased by his wife, Lois (Sowerby) and brother, Raymond, parents: Fletcher and Amy (McBrien) Gibbings, Stepfather: Mel Crich, In-Laws: Carl and Evelyn (McAllister) Sowerby, brother-in-law: Don Boone, sister-in-law: Roberta (Bobbie) Sowerby Fondly remembered by Linda Gibbings, Iona Gibbings, Mel Crich and Nancy

Missed by his companion, Janet Hunking and her family: Louise, Ron & Kathy, Debora, Bruce & Paige, Larry & Christy, Eric & Lorraine. Papa to 17 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren. Predeceased by: Brian, Katharine, Darlene, and Jeff. He was born on May 17, 1933 to Amy and Fletcher Gibbings in Kindersley,Saskatchewan. His father passed away in 1933 so his mother, brother Raymond and baby Harold moved to Clinton, Ontario to be near family.
Harold (Hoot) worked for the Town of Clinton and was a Firefighter at CFB, Clinton in the late 1960's. He also had a stump cutting business. He returned to the Town of Clinton until his retirement in 1998. His hobbies were talking and horses and he spent a great deal of time at many race tracks and horse barns over the years. He was a member of The Association of Ontario Road Supervisors, Huron County Road Superintendents, and The Ontario Harness Horse Association.
As per Harold's wishes, cremation has taken place.
A Celebration Of Life will be held in Clinton on Saturday May 14, 2022.
