Glenn Everrett Montgomery passed away peacefully in his 81st year at Wingham & District Hospital on Tuesday October 12, 2021 after recent health complications.
Glenn was the beloved husband of Arlyn (Powell) and recently celebrated 55 years of marriage. He is survived by his loving daughter Karen and son-in-law Daniel Gagné of Wichita Falls, TX. Glenn will be fondly remembered as Grandpa and Papa by Alessandra and Colton. He will be missed by his sister Joy (Gordon) Heiser of Columbia, SC; brother-in-law Jack (Joan) Powell of St. Joseph; nieces Fay (Ken) Rate, Seaforth; Renee (Nick) Lanthier, Pittsford, NY; Shelly (Herbie) Reeves, Irmo, SC; Jenine (Steve) Hurst, Listowel; nephews Jason (Maggie) Powell, Trowbridge; John (Kate) Powell, London; and numerous cousins.
Glenn was predeceased by his parents Clarence and Bessie Montgomery, brother Lyle and sister-in-law Shirley Montgomery, and ‘adopted sisters’ Erma Davis (Wichita, KS) and Beulah Woods (Anderson, IN).
Glenn was a farmer to the core having operated three farms with a farrow-to-finish hog operation, cash cropping, and custom combining. Health complications due to MS interrupted his plans, forcing him to give up his passion of active farming. Having two green thumbs, Dad continued to ‘farm’ in small ways with multiple vegetable gardens, red geraniums, and his favorite regal lilies. He loved to tinker and could fix anything, refurbishing antique tractors and his 1956 Ford Victoria. Glenn was happiest in his green work clothes and John Deere cap.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Falconer Funeral Home, Clinton on Monday October 18, 2021 at 1pm followed by a graveside burial at Clinton Cemetery. For those too far away to attend and due to Covid-19 limitations, the celebration will be live streamed from the funeral home website.
