Obituary for Frederick Richard Winfield "Fred" Waltham

Suddenly, surrounded by family at Stratford General Hospital on Sunday February 6, 2022 Frederick Richard Winfield Waltham of Clinton in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of the late Ruth “Mickey” Waltham (nee Allison). Loving father of Vicki Waltham-Kingsley & Randy Kingsley of Harriston, Eric Waltham of London, and Fred & Lonnie Waltham of Orangeville. Cherished pop/grampa of Greg, Sean, Allison (Nigel), Sandra (Mikael), Erin, Kimberly (Jason) and great grandfather of Kennedy, Coralye, Silas, Brayden, Khole, Rowan, Aleena, Emmerson, Braden, Liylah, Anna, and Mya. Survived by his sister Marjorie (John) Clark. Remembered by his nieces and nephew Heather, Allen, Karen and the Costello and Allison families. Missed by his dear friend Peggy Menzies.
Fred was a graduate of Western University and taught history at Lord Dorchester Secondary School, Dorchester and was vice-principal at Gordon Graydon Memorial Secondary School, Mississauga. Throughout his many years teaching, he was involved with track and field and was a football and basketball coach. He had a passion for gardening and was a skilled bridge player. He enjoyed farming in Walton for many years before moving to Clinton. He loved to travel and in his later years spent many winters in Portugal with his devoted wife.
At Fred’s request cremation has taken place. A celebration of life service for family and friends will be held at Strathroy Cemetery at a date to be announced. Memorial donations to the Canadian Down Syndrome Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
