Betty left to join her Saviour while surrounded by the love of her daughters; Joannie and Trish at Huron Hospice in her 85th year. Born in Groningen, Netherlands to Reinder and Janna Middel with 9 brothers and sisters. After the Middels spent many years working and living on their dads cargo ship the family immigrated in 1950 to Canada.

Beloved wife of the late Gerben Tolsma for 12 short years of marriage. Mother and life companion to the late Annette Tolsma. Predeceased also by twin baby sons, parents Janna and Reinder (Nannings) Middel, brothers John, Evert, Albert, Jacob and Adrian Middel as well as sister Ann Kolkman.

Betty’s time with her husband, Gerben, at only the age 37 was cut short. They were blessed with 3 wonderful daughters. Betty cherished her time spent with her daughters and the many adventure she did with her dear Annette. Singing was always part of their day and great memories were made while they all shared time washing dishes and singing their favorite songs. Her love for music started at an early age. She joined in singing with her 3 older brothers and many young people that visited on Sundays and that always were welcomed to the Middels home with a bowl of soup after church. Betty also played the Hawaiian guitar and sang for many years with an all young ladies traveling group The Pilgrim Singers.

Betty is now “Safe in the arms of Jesus”
